JOB VACANCY: MOTOR ASSESSOR/FLEET ASSESSOR.

ABOUT THE ROLE.

We are looking for an experienced Motor Assessor to join our team. The role is to ensure all company trucks are roadworthy, well-maintained, and operating efficiently to minimize downtime and repair costs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and pre-trip inspections of all trucks.
  • Assess mechanical, electrical, brake, suspension, and engine conditions.
  • Diagnose faults and estimate repair/maintenance costs accurately.
  • Liaise with workshops and spare parts suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effective repairs.
  • Verify that repairs are done correctly and match the job card.
  • Monitor truck performance, fuel consumption, and mileage to detect misuse or inefficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection reports, service history, and maintenance schedules.
  • Advise management on major repairs, truck replacement, or disposal.
  • Support drivers with technical advice during breakdowns on the road.
  • Ensure all trucks comply with road safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS.

  • Diploma or Degree in Automobile Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience assessing trucks, trailers, prime movers, and heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, gearboxes, differentials, air brakes, and hydraulics.
  • Valid Driving License - Class E is a MUST.
  • Experience with fleet management systems is an added advantage.
  • Good report writing and communication skills.
  • Must be field-oriented, honest, and able to work under pressure.
  • Willing to travel upcountry for breakdown assessment when needed.
